Announcements
• We are getting into a comfortable routine!
• Book orders are due by Wednesday.
• There has been a change to the (birthday) treat policy. Treats can go into rooms, but they must be store bought and individually wrapped.
• Skyward will be open for conference sign up soon. Conferences will be conducted by Zoom this fall.
Language
• We have been working on our routines. Our class made its goal of reading for 5 sustained minutes 8 times! We are now working on 10 minutes of sustained reading. Keep reading at home!
• We have been recognizing fictional story elements (characters, setting, plot, problem, and solution). This week we will focus on asking and answering questions as well as continuing our discussion on story elements.
• In writing we are discussing what happens during writing workshop and why people write.
Math
• This week we will learn about skip counting, odd/even numbers, the doubles addition strategy, and word problems.
• The students will take their first timed addition test. They have four minutes to complete up to 50 basic addition problems. Keep practicing basic facts at home.
• I will be introducing the students to a website called MobyMax. It practices reading and math at their individual levels. They will be able to access the website on their ipads through the Clever app.
